Help Out
“We’re all in this together.” – Red Green
Thank you for your interest in helping the Around the Great Lakes Expedition, promoting paddlesports on the Great Lakes and helping to increase awareness about wilderness protection.
I need four types of help:
- Monetary Help
- Logistic Help
- Promotional Help
- Support for my Sponsors
Monetary Help
The budget for the Around the Great Lakes Expedition is $10,000, and I’m currently funded at just under $3000. All donations are appreciated. Larger donations will receive some additional benefits.
- Purchase an Official Expedition Hat at Cafepress.com. For each hat purchased $15 goes to support the expedition. T-shirts, stickers and mugs are also available. Purchase a hat and appear on the blog (unless you’re shy).
- Buy me a piece of equipment from my Amazon.com wishlist.
- $100 donations receive one 12″x18″ foam backed print from your choice of an image produced on the trip.
- $500 donations receive one 16″x20″ or one 20″x30″ foam backed print from your choice of an image produced on the trip. If the donations come from a business, your logo will appear on the front page of the website in one of the boxes currently listed as RSS feed boxes. Contact me at bryan@bryanhansel.com for more details. Note: This is what I normally sell my 20″x30″ prints. Foam backing is free.
- $1000 donations receive three 16″x20″ or three 20″x30″ foam backed prints from your choice of images produced on the trip. If the donations come from a business, your logo will appear on the front page of the website in one of the boxes currently listed as RSS feed boxes. Contact me at bryan@bryanhansel.com for more details. Note: This is getting a 20″x30″ print for free and foam backing for free.
- Images from my website at www.bryanhansel.com are also available.
Logistic Help
I’m looking for people interested in:
- Meeting up.
- Paddling together.
- Camping out.
- Willing to have their pictures taken and be interviewed for possible inclusion in the website or in the coffee table book about the trip.
- I may also need help getting to post offices and grocery stores.
- I’m also interested in hearing from people who know their areas.
- Helping promote the expedition by finding reporters willing to write or film news stories.
- Offer a little Trail Magic: cookies, showers, warm bed, laundry, etc…
If you’re interested in helping along the way, please, email me at bryan@bryanhansel.com or contact me at Twitter.
When you email me, include the following info:
- Great Lake you’re on.
- Town you can offer support in.
- Support you’re willing to offer.
- Details about your area: what is a must see, good free campsites, picture opportunities, local paddling clubs, local paddlesport shops, local newspapers.
- Name, best email address, and phone numbers.
Thank you for any support you can provide.
Promotional Help
Know someone in the press? Pass along my story and contact details. I also have a press release. The size of the publication of broadcast makes no difference to me.
Also:
- Join my Facebook page.
- Follow me on Twitter. I love Twitter; you should too.
- Tweet about my trip using the handy Retweet button below each post.
- Follow my blog posts as I paddle and after I finish.
- Check out my other websites: www.nessmuking.com and www.bryanhansel.com
New Paddlesports and Camping Gear
When considering new paddlesport or camping gear purchases, consider buying from my generous sponsors. I asked for support from each of these sponsors, because I’ve used their products in the past or my friends recommended them to me. If you do, please, mention that you’re buying from them because they sponsored the Around the Great Lakes Expedition.
Equipment sponsors, please, visit the Sponsor page.
Thank You
Thanks for checking out this page. If you can’t help out in any of the ways listed above, no problem. Enjoy the summer, wave when I paddle by. Thanks for the interest. I’m really flattered and humbled by all the offers of help.
